ArtisansQuill invites submissions for its third issue on the theme After.

Send us your pieces that construct and disrupt the proliferating meanings of afters: aftermath and arrival; return and recovery; rupture and repair; inheritance and transformation; relentless befores and uncertain futures.

Unsettle, console, question, or reimagine what comes after. Explore personal, communal, historical, ecological, political, existential, national, or imagined afters.

We are accepting:

• Poetry: Up to 3 poems in a single submission.
• Short Fiction: Up to 3,500 words.
• Creative Nonfiction/Personal Essays: Up to 4,000 words.
• Flash Fiction: Up to 1,000 words.
• Flash Creative Nonfiction: Up to 1,000 words.
• Hybrid, experimental, or genre-bending work: Up to 4,000 words.
• Short drama or dramatic scenes: Up to 3,500 words.
• Visual art and photography: Up to 5 high-resolution images with titles and a brief artist’s statement (optional).

Submission Guidelines

• Submit previously unpublished work only.
• Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but please notify us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.
• Multiple submissions are welcome, provided each submission falls within the limits above.
• Please submit your work as a Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) document. Visual art should be submitted as high-resolution JPEG or PNG files.
• Use a readable 12-point font (such as Times New Roman or Garamond) with standard margins.
• Include your name, email address, and the title(s) of your work in your submission.
• Please include a brief third-person bio (1–2 sentences; no more than 40 words) in the body of your email.

Example:
Ali Joy is pondering what rolls around in a tornado.

We love contributor bios that reveal a little personality. Feel free to mention your publications, current projects, profession, or something unexpectedly memorable.

We aim to respond to all submissions within 8–10 weeks after the submission deadline.
